Caribbean dream Islands

Antigua

Introduction to Antigua

The largest and most developed of the Leeward Islands, Antigua is an important airline hub for the northern Windward Islands as well as several of the Leeward Islands. Access to Montserrat and Barbuda is only through Antigua via the local airline.

Easy access, good facilities, varied accomodation, excellent beaches, interesting history and atractive scenery means that Antigua has plenty to offer visitors.

Weather

Drier than most of the Caribbean islands. Antigua can get quite hot in mid summer when the trade winds fail, but the low humidity tempers the heat and conditions are rarley unpleasant.

Hotels

Antigua offers a wide range of hotels fron all-inclusive complexes to small guest houses.

Beaches

With its irregular indented coastline, Antigua boasts a huge number of beaches, anything from 52 (one for each weekend) to 365 (one for each day of the year), depending on how you define a beach. Either way, there are plenty of small deserted coves as well as the more popular main beaches.

Scuba & Snorkelling

Antigua has excellent snorkelling and beautiful coral gardens to delight the novice diver. With calm waters, shallow reefs close to the shore, and an absence of strong currents, it is the ideal place to enroll on a scuba diving course and become a qualified diver.
