Caribbean
Islands
A large, lush island with a lot to offer, but with a significant crime problem. Poverty is widespread, and although violent crime tends to be restricted to the capital, Kingston, theft and burglary are widespread. That said, Jamaicans have a well deserved reputation for friendliness and hospitality. Scenery diverse and spectacular.
With two international airports, getting to Jamaica presents no problems. Internal road transfers to resorts which are not close to either, however, can be slow. Self drive is expensive and hazardous, as both roads and driving standards leave much to be desired.
Predominantly large all inclusive resorts, many offering good value for money.
Not in the top league, but diving is available at most resorts. In Negril there is good snorkelling at the Point Village resort, but indifferent diving.
