Lush and mountainous, offering excellent, if strenuous, hiking in the rain forest.

Reasonable access by air, but Hewanorra International airport is a long way from most of the resort areas.

Pretty good year round, but driest January to March.

Mostly small and intimate on small beaches or forested hillsides on the Caribbean side of the island.

A lot of small coves and beaches.

Excellent scuba diving and snorkelling. Good shore diving at Anse Chastanet, and particularly good night diving.
