Caribbean
Islands
One of the less developed Caribbean islands, with simple unsophisticated entertainments. A charming and friendly island.
Being small and less developed, access is either via Trinidad or part of a triangular route involving one of the more popular islands.
Excellent climate, rarely troubled by hurricanes making this an all year round destination.
Nothing very fancy, but pleasant and friendly.
Some very good beaches and marvellous small coves, not always easily accessible.
The best diving is in the north, near Little Tobago, but there are also good sites elsewhere. The start of the gulf stream brings the discharge from the Orinoco river past Tobago and the nutrient rich waters support a great diversity of sea life. During the rainy season this discharge can reduce underwater visibility somewhat due to the suspended solid matter. Some good wrecks, great drift diving and the largest brain coral in the world. The Caribbean side of the island also offers great snorkelling.
